The 1N4007 belongs to a sort of 1 A general-purpose silicon rectifier diode, commonly used in AC adapters for common household appliances. It is fairly low-speed rectifier diode, being inefficient for square waves of more than 15 kHz. The 1N4007 diode is a standard recovery rectifier with a molded plastic case. The maximum current carrying capacity is 1A and it withstands peak up to 30A. So we can use this diode in circuits that are designed for less than 1A. The reverse current is 5uA which is negligible but it can withstand reverse voltage peak up to 1000V.

1N4007 Diode Pinout

1N4007 rectifier diode has in total 2 pins. However, you need to know functions of every pins before it can work better for you.

1N4007 owns a cathode (-) and anode (+). In the schematic symbol, the tip of the triangle with the line on top of it is the cathode. The cathode is marked on the body of a diode by a band. It allows current flow through only one direction that means current can flow from the anode to the cathode only and never from the cathode to the anode – it likes a one way valve.

The 1N4007 pinout diagram is as shown in the picture below:

and the pin configurations of 1N4007 are list as following:

  • Pin 1, Anode, Current always Enters through Anode
  • Pin 2, Cathode, Current always Exits through Cathode
