Fearless is stepping into the video game business. Today, the company announced its latest idea to get people excited: an in-app video game called Lanebreak. In a game that is only available to owners and subscribers of Peloton bikes, the player can change rhythm and resistance to achieve goals and control the wheel displayed on the screen.

Players can choose the difficulty level, the type of music they want, and the length of the track. The game is not yet available, but members will be in beta testing later this year. Peloton hasn’t shared any information about how people can join the game yet .

The game’s atmosphere and interface are reminiscent of Mario Kart’s Rainbow Road , which runs through the universe. The idea of Lanebreak is more or less the same, but instead of Mario, the player controls by pedaling the ring and trying to meet certain goals.

There are three types of challenges and ways to earn points: Picking, where points are earned as long as you stay on the track. A flow that rewards based on rhythm. Sprints that reward according to the energy given.

I had the opportunity to test the game only once on my bike and personally I found it pretty boring and hard to follow. Especially compared to the hours pulled by the instructor. ( I took part in 10 minutes an hour and counted the seconds until it ended. ) However, this feedback comes from a person who doesn’t play and use Fearless because of their multiple instructor personalities and music options.

Despite the game itself, the idea of bringing games into training is interesting and marks the opening of a new kind of content in the Fearless selection. What makes this very interesting is that Netflix has also decided to embark on the line of in-app game development. It would seem that both companies understand that they need a wide range of supply to keep people interested for longer.
